Chief Bonds was born and raised in Ridgeland. Chief Bonds graduated from Thomas Heyward Academy in 2004 and started the Cadet program at Ridgeland Fire Department at age 15. Chief Bonds began working full time at Ridgeland Fire Department in 2005 and held several positions until becoming Chief In February of 2016. Chief Bonds is currently working on his Bachelor's degree from Liberty University. Chief Bonds is Married to Amanda and they have two children, Walker and Daniel. Captain Mathis was born and raised in Ridgeland. Captain Mathis has been with the Ridgeland Fire Department since 1984. Captain Mathis was one of Ridgeland's first paid fireman. Captain Mathis worked for Hilton Head Island fire and rescue, Colleton County Fire Rescue and retired from Jasper County Fire Rescue in 2012. Captain Mathis came back full time to Ridgeland in 2013 and became Captain of Operations in July 2016. Captain Mathis has 34 years of experience and oversees all daily operations of the department. Liutenant Malphus was born and raised in Ridgeland where he graduated from Thomas Heyward Academy in 1994. Lieutenant Malphrus started volunteering with the Fire Department in 1995 and became paid in 1999. Lieutenant Malphrus has held several positions and is currently the senior shift supervisor for the department. Lieutenant Malphrus oversees all maintenance, hydrants and Truck equipment. Lieutenant Mcelhaney was born and raised in Ridgeland where he graduated from Abudant Life Academy in 2001. Lieutenant Mcelhaney became full time with the Fire Department in 2001 and was the first Firefighter to be sent to the South Carolina Fire Academy through the Town. Lieutenant Mcelhaney serves as a shift supervisor and oversees all training for the department. Lieutenant Mcelhaney teaches several classes for Fire Academy. Lieutenant Wynn was born and raised in Ridgeland. Lieutenant Wynn started volunteering with the Town in 1987 and became paid at Sea Pine Forest Beach Fire Rescue in 1988. Lieutenant Wynn then worked for Jasper County Fire Rescue until returning to Ridgeland Fire Department in 2012. Lieutenant Wynn retired in 2012 and returned to duty shortly after. Lieutenant Wynn servers as a shift supervisor and oversees logistics and dry hydrants for the department. Lieutenant Wynn is married to his wife Laura and they have two kids, Brandt and Chelsy. Chad was born and raised in New York. Chad began his firefighting career as a cadet in 1994. Chad then served in The United States Marine Corps for 9 years until starting his paid career in the Fire service in 2005. Chad is currently a Senior Firefighter and serves the Fire Marshal for the Fire Department. Chad is married to his wife Leslie and they have two kids, Zach and Victoria.
